Hong Kong, The Chartered Bank, $100 Dollars banknote, undated (1961-1970), Hong Kong, green serial number Y/M 2860145, obverse: green and brown, “Promises to pay the bearer on demand at its office here” top centre, ornate key to either side, elegant shield of arms with lion and griffin supporters and motto PARTES PER EOAS (meaning “Throughout the Eastern World”) at centre, denomination to either side, “ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS or the equivalent in the currency of the colony value received” below, signatures of the Accountant and the Manager of the bank, reverse: view of Hong Kong harbour with the Peak in the distance, Britannia, elephant, sheep and sailing junk within right-hand border, printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company Limited, 158mm x 88mm (Ma Tak Wo, “Illustrated Catalogue of Hong Kong Currency”, S33).
