China, Foreign Banks, International Banking Corporation, Uniface Obverse and Reverse Proofs of the $5 banknote, ND (c.1918), without place name, American Bank Note Company Archive Proofs, unperforated and mounted on card stock, Obverse: black with red detail, bank name at top, Golden Eagle perched on Roman-style building between two world globes at centre, colourful geometric designs with denomination to either side, “FIVE DOLLARS LOCAL CURRENCY AT ITS OFFICE HERE, VALUE RECEIVED BY ORDER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS” below, space for two signatures at lower right, space for serial numbers at top, 176mm x 106mm, Reverse: orange, Golden Eagle perched on Roman-style building between two world globes at centre (similar to the obverse design), bank name above, “FIVE DOLLARS” below, intertwined “5” and “V” to either side, 167mm x 94mm (see Pick, “Standard Catalog of World Paper Money”, S419 for type, dark blue obverse unlisted).
