United States of America, Michigan, Ann Arbor, The Washtenaw Bank, uniface $10 banknote, dated 9 December 1835, handwritten serial number 10972, signed by the Cashier and President, Plate A, front: detailed vignette of Mercury carrying cornucopia of coins with a bare-breasted female figure seated below with American eagle and anchor behind, denomination “X” to right and “10” in three corners, standing figure of Liberty at far right, MICHIGAN above, shield of arms with animal supporters and eagle crest at far left, “Promises to TEN dollars on demand” and “Messrs Green Brown & Co in the City of NEW YORK” lower centre, back: blank, 180mm x 78mm.

Lower right corner missing a tiny piece, otherwise good extremely fine, attractive and very scarce.
