Great Britain, Warwickshire, Birmingham, William Donald (died 1798, stocking manufacturer, 29 Bull Street, Birmingham), Copper Halfpenny Trade Token, dated 1792, obverse: DONALD & Co STOCKING MANUFACTURERS WHOLESALE & RETAIL . within oval of leaves, HALFPENNY PAYABLE AT around, reverse: beehive and bees within a circle, No 29 BULL STREET BIRMINGHAM 1792 around, twenty-five bees in field, edge PAYABLE . . . . CORK AND IN BELFAST (blundered edge), diam. 29mm (Dalton & Hamer “The Provincial Token Coinage of the 18th Century” unlisted, see D&H 123b).
Fair to fine, edge bruises and surface marks, exceedingly rare, this the only example traced.
