Charles James Brownsell was born on the 12th April 1892 he joined the Royal regiment of Artillery on the 26th January 1914 he landed in France with the 11th Siege Battery Royal garrison Artillery on the 21st April 1915, he remained a Regular soldier in the Royal Artillery, being issued number 1409370 at the change of Army numbering, he retired from the Army on the 25th January 1935 after completing 21 years-service with the colours. His service papers will be held by the Army Personnel Centre in Glasgow.
