Charles I (1625-49), Newark siege shilling, 1645, Royal crown, C to left, R to right flanking the crown, denomination XII below, beaded border both sides. Rev, three line inscription and date, OBS: / NEWARKE / 1645, 6.14g (Brooker 1224; N.2640; S.3142). An uncharacteristically well struck and centred example displaying all the legend scripts on both obverse and reverse, obverse especially appealing.
