James II (1685-88), Crown, 1687, Second laureate and draped bust facing left, legend reads IACOBVS.II. DEI.GRATIA, toothed border both sides. Rev, crowned cruciform shields, six strings to Irish harp, garter Star at centre, date either side of crown above English shield. Legend reads, .MAG. BR.FRA. ET.HIB REX., edge in inscribed raised letters, reads .+.DECVS.ET.TVTAMEN..ANNO.REGNI.TERTIO.+. (Bull. 743; ESC.78; S3407).
Good extremely fine, about as struck, weak on the high point of the hair, an excellent specimen with subtle underlying golden toning.
