James II (1685-88), Guinea, 1687, second laureate bust facing left, toothed border both sides, legend reads IACOBVS. II. DEI. GRATIA. Rev, crowned cruciform shields, sceptres in angles, legend surrounds MAG. BR. FRA. ET. HIB REX, date either side of top crown, edge diagonally milled (S.3402; Schneider 457; MCE. 128).
Extremely fine for issue, some surface markings, nevertheless a good central striking of the King’s portrait on with underlying mint brilliance.
