Description

William III (1694-1702), Sixpence, 1697 C, Chester Mint, C below first laureate and draped bust right, rev crowned cruciform shields, small crowns, Lion of Nassau at centre, ordinary harp, edge, plain, (cf.ESC 1557; S.3533).

Attractively toned, a pleasing EF and the only specimen we have seen with a plain edge, extremely rare. This coin appears to have missed the edge milling process but does not seem to have been struck without a collar as it is fully round and compact.
