George III (1760-1820), pattern Third-Guinea, 1776, by Richard Yeo, legend reads GEORGIVS. III. DEI. GRATIA., laureate head facing right, curls extending below truncation. Rev, legend reads MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX., crowned lion passant standing over an ornate larger crown with tail extending up to the left of date, edge plain (Selig 1154; WR 137 – R3). As struck, exceptionally rare, encapsulated and graded by PCGS as Proof 62.

Issued in the year of the United States declaration of independence, the thirteen colonies that were at War with Great Britain would regard themselves as sovereign states, it was this declaration signed of July 4th 1776 which essentially set the infrastructure and doctrine which, in due course evolved into to the creation of the United States of America.
