Description

Victoria (1837-1901), Pattern Penny, 1860, restrike in copper, by Joseph Moore. Laureate head facing left, 11 leaves and 7 berries, tied with ribbon, within beaded circle, date below, stop either side, legend reads VICTORIA – QUEEN, date below. Beaded inner linear border both sides, rev Britannia in flowing robes seated on rock, looking left, with trident in right hand, shield and olive spray in left hand, anchor fluke to left, legend reads ONE PENNY below, GREAT BRITAIN above, edge plain (BMC. 2116; Fr. 843).

As struck, one or two minor carbon spots, a distinct magenta toning.
