A 1914-1919 Casualty Victory Medal awarded to Airman Third Class, Wireless Operator, Walter William Spedding Royal Air Force, late Royal Flying Corps who had previously served with the Loyal North Lancs until badly wounded on the 22nd of December 1916 with gunshot wounds to back and Right hand, comprising 1914-1919 Victory Medal (139199 3.A.M. W.W. Spedding R.A.F.), very fine.
Walter William Spedding joined the Royal Flying Corps on the 1st of March 1918 after service in the Army as 24882 Loyal North Lancs and 126172 Labour Corps with the BEF being wounded on the 22nd of December 1916, Gun Shot Wound Back and Right Hand. After being wounded, he was transferred to the Labour Corps and then volunteered for the Royal Flying Corps, a Batchelor of Arts educated student he was mustered as a Wireless Operator. He served in France with the RAF from the 3rd of October 1918 until the end of hostilities, being transferred to the Reserve on the 23rd of February 1919
