Description
A 33rd Battalion London Regiment, late 16th Battalion County of London,(Queen’s Westminster Rifles) Regiment Great War Pair awarded to Private, later Corporal, Frank Henry Hoare, comprising, 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (860946 Pte. R. H. Hoare. 33-Lond. R.), toned very fine.
Frank Henry Hoare enlisted on the 29th February 1916, the only leap year of the Great War, into the 16th Battalion County of London Regiment (Queens Westminster Rifles) stating that he was a 27 year old shipping clerk from Bedford Hill, Balham. He was posted to the 33rd Battalion The London Regiment on the 12th June 1918 and proceeded with them to France. The 33rd Battalion fought at Ypres and during the Advance in Flanders until the Armistice on the 11th November 1918. He was promoted to Corporal on the 23rd December 1918, on the 25th August 1919 he was posted to the 2/23rd Battalion London Regiment and proceeded to England on the 30th August 1919 he was demobilsed.
