A Boer War, 1914 BEF, Long Service Group of 5 awarded to WOII, Battery Serjeant Major, Henry Hugh Loveys, J Battery Royal Horse Artillery comprising Queen’s South Africa Medal, 2nd type, two clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, (19714 Bomb H.H. Loveys. J.B. R.H.A.), impressed naming, 1914 Star with original Aug-Nov Clasp, (19714Sjt. H.H. Loveys. R.H.A.), 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (19714 W.O.Cl.2 H.H. Loveys R.A.), Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal, GVR, (19714 B. Sjt. Mjr. H.H. Loveys. R.H.A.), contemporarily mounted for wear, lightly toned very fine

Henry Hugh Loveys was born c. 1875 in New Barnett, London, a salesman by trade when he enlisted into the Royal Horse Artillery on the 20th of April 1897. He served Home 20th April 1897 to 12th of December 1898, India 13th of December 1898 to the 10th of January 1900, South Africa, 11th of January 1900 to the 5th of June 1900, Home 6th June 190 to the 15th of August 1914. BEF France 16th of August 1914 to the 20th of June 1915 being invalided Home – Sick – to Lees Court Military Hospital, Faversham on the 20th of June 1915. Serving Home from the 21st of June 1915 until1919 then serving with the Army of Occupation Until his demobilisation on the 18th of January 1920. He was awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal on the 5th of September 1916. He died on the 4th of January 1924.
