A British War Medal awarded to Captain (Later Acting Lieutenant Colonel) Sydney Charles Kerridge MC, 23rd Battalion (4th Tyneside Scottish) Northumberland Fusiliers, 1/7th Gurkhas, 87th Punjabis, who won a Military Cross for a Trench Raid comprising a 1914-1920 British War Medal, (Capt S.C. Kerridge.), lightly toned very fine

For conspicuous gallantry during a raid in the enemy trenches. He systematically cleared the whole trench allotted to him, bombing the dugouts, and killing the occupants. He set a splendid example to his men throughout the operation.
Captain (Later Acting Lieutenant Colonel) Sydney Charles Kerridge MC, 23rd Battalion (4th Tyneside Scottish) Northumberland Fusiliers, 1/7th Gurkhas, 87th Punjabis landed in France on the 15th of June 1916 having been Commissioned Temporary 2nd Lieutenant on the 20th of January 1916. He was promoted Lieutenant on the 24th of February 1917 and transferred to the Indian Army on 27th of August 1918. He was promoted Major (IA) on the 20th of October 1920 and acting Lieutenant Colonel on the 15th of January 1922.
He is also entitled to the Victory Medal and the India General Service Medal, 1918-62 with the clasps Kurdistan and Iraq.
