A Burma Campaign Gurkha Officers Group of 4 awarded to 2nd Lieutenant, Later Honorary Captain, Gordon Martin Petry, 4th Price of Wales’s Own Gurkha Rifles, comprising 1939-45 Star, Burma Star, 1939-45 Defence Medal, 1939-45 War Medal, unnamed as issued, lightly toned very fine.
Sold with his original Army in India Identity Card, to Gordon Martin Petry who was born on the 1st of November 1923, 2nd Lt. 4th Gurkha Rifles, with a much-faded original photograph.
Gordon Martin Petry was first commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on the 5th of September 1943 to the 4th Gurkha Rifles and promoted Lieutenant on the 5th of March 1944 promoted Temporary Captain 31st of March 1946 he was in 1946 serving on the Staff of the Officer’s Training School, Bangalore as a Company Officer (still 4th Gurkha Rifles). Petry relinquished his commission in the Gurkha’s on the 24th of May 1948 (London Gazette of the 10th of September 1948 refers) and was appointed to the Territorial Army (East Surrey Regiment) from where he retired on the 14th of March 1955 with the Hon rank of Captain (London Gazette of the 20th of May 1955 refers).
