A Good WW2 Royal Navy Long Service Group of 6 awarded to Petty Officer W.H.G. Conduit, H.M.S. Implacable comprising, 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Africa Star, Burma Star, Pacific Clasp, 1939-45 War Medal, all unnamed as issued, Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, GVR, Fid Def, (MX 50433 W.H.G. Conduit. P.O. CK.(S). H.M.S Implacable.), contemporarily mounted for wear lightly toned very fine.
H.M.S. Implacable was a modified Illustrious Class Fleet Aircraft Carrier ordered under the 1938 Programme from Fairfield Shipbuilders, Govan, Glasgow in October 1938. The ship was laid down during February 1939 and launched on the 10th December 1942 as the 4th Royal Navy warship to carry the name. Build was completed in June 1944 and she had been “adopted” by Lloyd’s of London after a successful Warship Week National Savings campaign in 1942.
Her World War Two battle honours are – “Norway 1944” and “Japan 1945″.
