Description
A Great War 1914 Star Trio awarded to Gunner William John Howes, “K” Battery Royal Horse Artillery who served with the Artillery from 1895 to 1919 comprising 1914 Star, (8601 Gnr: W. Howes. R.H.A.), 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (8601 Gnr. W.J. Howes. R.A.), toned very fine.
He is also entitled to the 1914 Star Aug-Nov Clasp.
William John Howes, a Groom from Stapleford Essex enlisted into the Royal Artillery on the 26th of February 1895. He served Home 26th of February 1895 to the 13th of October 1897, India 14th of October 1897 to the 17th of December 1898, Home the 18th of December 1898 to the 5th of May 1902and with the Reserve from the 6th of May 1902 to the 25th of February 1907, when he was discharged after 12 years with the Colours. He served on the Reserve from the 10th of July 1907 to the 5th of October 1914. France 6th of October 1914 to the 1st of August 1916, Home 2nd of August 1916 finally discharged to the “Z” Reserve on the 20th of January 1919.
