Kent R.), India General Service Medal, 1908-35, one clasp Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919, (200792 Sgt. O.N. Bashford. R. W. Kent. R), contemporarily mounted for wear, lightly toned very fine
Oswald Newton Bashford was born c1876, in the 1911 census he is shown living with his wife Harriet and his mother and father at Chiddingstone in Kent. His occupation is given as Butler., Harriet is a Cook. He joins the 1/4th Battalion Royal west Kent Regiment Territorial Force and is posted to India arriving in country on the 29th of October 1914he is shown as still serving with the 1/4th Battalion in December 1921 when he received the India General Service Medal. The Medal Index Card confirms that this pair is his full entitlement. Oswald Died on the 6th of October 1956.
