A Great War Canadian Engineers Group awarded to Acting Sergeant Ernest Leonard Burden Canadian Engineers comprising 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (408593 A. Sgt. E.L. Burden. C.E.), toned very fine.

Ernest Leonard Burden was born in Tottenham; London, England on the 15th March 1894, his trade was Clerk. He Attested for the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force at Niagra on the 19th July 1915. He arrived in England after passage from Canada on the SS Lapland on the 11th December 1915 he landed in France, after a spell of being AWOL on the 17th May 1916 with the 2nd Pioneer Battalion Canadian Engineers. His papers state he was ill for one week in 1917 with Trench Fever. He was demobilised on the 14th May 1919 after 4 years’ service.
