A Great War Officer Casualty Pair to 2nd Lieutenant David Abernethy, Essex Regiment, late Private 14th (County of London) Battalion The London Regiment (London Scottish), comprising 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (2. Lieut. D. Abernethy.), very fine

David Abernethy was born in Ilford Essex in 1897; he enlisted for the London Scottish in Ilford on the 9th December 1915. He landed in France on the 16th May 1916 and was wounded, at Neuve Chappelle in January 1917, Gun Shot Wound Knee and again at Arras on the 11th May 1917 Gun Shot Wound Right Arm, for this wound he spent 29 days in the Red Cross Hospital Gloucester and 28 days convalesce at Woodcote park, Epsom. He served for 2 years 19 days with the colours before he was discharged to Commission on the 28th May 1918 being posted to the 6th battalion the Essex Regiment.

Sold with copied Service papers and Medal Index Card, the only 2nd Lieutenant D. Abernethy listed at the National Archives who received the British War and Victory Medals.
