A Punjab Frontier, Boer War Pair awarded to Private George Vickery, 1st Battalion the Somerset Light Infantry, comprising, India Medal 1895-1902, one clasp, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, (4419 Pte G. Vickery 1st Bn Som Lt Infy) named in running script, Queen’s South Africa Medal, 1899-1902, 3rd type reverse, two clasps, Transvaal, South Africa 1902, (4419 Pte G. Vickery. Somerset: L.I.), impressed naming, toned, fine
George Vickery joined the Somerset Light Infantry on the 24th of July 1895 sating that he was 18 years and 7 months old that he lived in Taunton and found employment as a Labourer. He served in the East Indies from the 23rd of December 1896 to the 17th of March 1902 and in South Africa form the 18th of March 1902 to the 19th of January 1903. He transferred to the Army Reserve on the 20th of January 1903 and was finally demobilised on the 22nd of July 1907 after 12 years with the Colours and Reserve. His Service Papers confirm the two awards and clasps.
