A Rare Army Cyclist Corps, Gallipoli, Casualty Victory Medal awarded to Private Albert Gill who Died of Dysentery on the 31st of August 1915 after only 25 days on the Peninsula comprising 1914-1919 Victory Medal, (5203 Pte. A. Gill. A. Cyc. Corps.) fine

Albert Gill was a 19 year old Automatic Machinist from Keighley, Yorkshire. He attested for the 8th Battalion West Riding Regiment on the 31st of August 1914 transferring to the 11th Divisional Cyclist Company Army Cyclist Corps on the 1st of March 1915. He proceeded to Mediterranean Theatre arriving in the Dardanelles on the 6th of August 1915. He was evacuated to England from Mudros but died on the Hospital Ship Asturias(?) and was buried in Plot A, Row 12 Grave 1 of Pieta Military Cemetery Malta, he was the son of John and Harriet Ann Gill of 22 Paget Street, Keighley, Yorkshire.
