A World War Two, Hurricane Pilot, North Africa, Officers Casualty Group of 4 awarded to Flying Officer John Charles Hodges, 225 Squadron Royal Air Force, who was killed on his second operational sortie of the day when his Hurricane H. L. 963 crashed on take off, at Souk-El-Araba, 5th December 1942, comprising, 1939-45 Star, Aircrew Europe Star, (original), Africa Star, North Africa 1942-43 Clasp, 1939-45 War Medal, unnamed as issued very fine.
Sold with original coloured photograph of Flying Officer Hodges and his original World War Two Memorial Scroll, (Flying Officer J.C. Hodges Royal Air Force) framed and glazed.

07.50 P/O’s Hodges and Baker briefed for Tac/R (Tactical Reconnaissance), area Mateur – Djedeida, 08.00 sorties airborne.
09.30 P/O’s Hodges and Baker landed. Reported having seen Transports and Submarines in Tunis Harbour. No further movement seen in Mateur- Djedida area.
16.00 P/O’s Hodges and Burnett briefed for Tac/R.
16.05 P/O Burnett took off P/O Hodges crashed on take off and was fatally injured. Hurricane H.L.963 a total loss.
Flying Officer John Charles Hodges is buried in Medjez-El-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia, he was the son of Reginald and Florence Hodges of Bishop Stortford, Hertfordshire, he was 20 years old.
