A WW2 Japanese Prisoner of War post-war Palestine Long Service Group of 6 awarded to W.O. 2 Company Sergeant Major George Frank Adams, Royal Engineers, who was captured at the fall of Singapore on the 15th February 1942 comprising, 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, 1939-45 Defence Medal, 1939-45 War Medal, unnamed as issued, General Service Medal, 1918-62, GVIR, one clasp Palestine 1945-48, (1863534 W.O. Cl. 2 G.F. Adams. R.E.), Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, GVIR, Regular Army Bar, (1863534 S/Sgt. G.F. Adams. R.E.), contemporarily mounted for wear, lightly toned, traces of polish otherwise very fine.
George Frank Adams was born on the 5th March 1910 and lived at 132 Dale Street, Chatham with his family before being posted to Singapore. An Army Blacksmith he served with the Singapore Establishment for Engineering Services as a Staff Sergeant and was taken Prisoner of War when Singapore fell to Japanese forces on the 15th February 1942. Released at the end of hostilities with Japan his next of kin is shown as Mrs G.F. Adams, 5, Upper Elms Road, Aldershot.
Adams served in Julis, Palestine as Company Sergeant Major to 96 Works Company RE.
