Aethelred II, (978-1016), silver Penny, small flan CRVX type (c.995-997), Canterbury Mint, Moneyer Eadwold, draped bust left with sceptre angled into drapery, three pellet head, within linear circle, legend commences at top, +ᆴ?ELRᆴD REX ANGLOX, outer beaded circle surrounding both sides, rev voided cross within linear circle, letters C R V X in each angle, legend surrounding, +EADPOLD M-O CᆴNT, 1.40g (BMC type IIIa; N.770; S.1148).

Undulating flan, toned with a couple of peck marks on obverse, very fine, scarce.
