Aethelred II (978-1016), Penny, Crux type, Hertford mint, moneyer Edwi. Bare headed bust facing left holding sceptre with three pellet tip within linear circle, pellet in inner circle at base of sceptre, legend reads +ÆĐELRED REX ANGLORX. Rev, legend surrounds +EDPI M-O HEORT, short voided cross with C, R, V, X, in angles, 1.44g (N770; S1148).

Toned, very fine, a rarer mint for the type.
