An Officer’s Afghanistan Medal 1878-80, no clasp, awarded to Lieutenant Colonel A. Pringle Indian Staff Corps late 2nd Bombay Light Cavalry, (Lieut: A. Pringle. 2nd B.o. L.t. Cavy.), engraved in sloping capitals, toned fine, edge knock to obverse at 5 o’clock.

Alexander Pringle was born on the 27th October 1850, he was commissioned on the 30th December 1872, Lt Col 30th December 1898. He retired on the 23 August 1901 having served for 29 years1908 Indian Army Lists states “War Service Afghanistan 1880 – Medal” – his only medal for 29 years’ service!
