A sole entitlement Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, QVR, 1874-1901, awarded to Quarter Master Sergeant John Clarke, Royal Engineers, (8113. Qr Mr Sgt J. Clarke. R.E.), toned very fine.

John Clarke a Surveyors Assistant from Kendall in Westmorland attested for the Royal Engineers on the 8th June 1864. He served in the Royal Engineers for a total of 21 years 15 days, seeing overseas service in Gibraltar, and Malta. He was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal with £5 gratuity in 1882, his sole entitlement ; he was discharged at Lichfield on the 23rd June 1885.
