A sole entitlement Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, QVR, 1874-1901, awarded to Quarter Master Sergeant John Woodford, Royal Engineers, (6610. Qr. Mr. Sgt J. Woodford. Rl Engineers), toned very fine.

John Woodford a Carpenter from Northampton joined the Royal Engineers on the 19th March 1861, stating that he had served for 1 year and 222 days in the 4th Royal Irish Dragoons, purchasing his discharge on payment of £30. He served in the Royal Engineers for a total of 21 years 321 days, seeing overseas service in New Brunswick and Bermuda. He was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, with £5 gratuity, his sole entitlement, in 1880; he was discharged at Lichfield on the 23rd May 1882.
