Description

An Officers Medal for Pegu. Awarded to Captain, later Major Matthew Wood 9th Regiment Madras Native Infantry comprising, India General Service Meda 1854-95, one claps Pegu, (Captn. Matthew Wood. 9th Regt. M.N.I.), toned very fine.

Matthew Wood Petitioned the Honourable Court of the United East India Company to enter Military Service on the 25th of May 1831 at the Addiscombe Artillery and Engineer Seminary. He was promoted Major in the London Gazette of the 27th of April 1860. He died on the 12th of May 1907 aged 91.
