Description

Anne (1702-14), Shilling, 1702, first draped bust left, legend surrounds ANNA DEI GRATIA. Rev, crowned cruciform shields (pre-union), angles plain, six strings to Irish harp, central garter star, date flanking top crown, reads MAG BR FRA ET HIB REG, (S.3583; Bull 1385; ESC 1128).

An impressive example on good metal with a fully centred strike, superb detail in the hair with good lines to the Queens profile and bust, both toothed borders consistent and cleanly struck, some light haymarking. A scarcer date in the series, the first date issue for Queen Anne. Choice uncirculated, prooflike, a complete example.
