Canute (1016-35), Penny, Short cross type (c.1029-35/36), London Mint, moneyer Eadwulf, diademed bust left with lis tipped sceptre, legend surrounding with a full reading, CNVT RECX. Rev, voided short cross, within linear circle and legend surrounding, reads +EΛDVLF ON LVNDE:., 0.98g (S.1159; N.790; BMC XVI; SCBI 14 [Copenhagen, Part IIIb], 2333-34).
Slight wave to flan with an even cabinet tone, struck with blocky dies, nevertheless portrait and the bulk of the design visible, some hairline cracks and a little verdigris in certain sections on obverse. An academic example with a better moneyer, free from peckmarks, very fine.
