Charles I (1625 – 1649).

Silver Halfcrown, York Mint (1643-1644), Type VI, mm. Lion.

Obverse: CAROLVS DG MAG BRI FRA ET HIB REX, Charles I on horseback to left, with raised sword, EBOR below.
Reverse: CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO, crowned oval quartered shield of arms, C and R on either side, floral spray in legend.

Good extremely fine, well struck. An exceptional example, attractively toned.
