Charles II (1660-85), Crown, 1664, second laureate and draped bust right, toothed border both sides, legend surrounding, CAROLVS II DEI GRATIA. Rev, crowned cruciform shields, interlinked pairs of Cs in angles, garter star at centre, date either side of top crown, seven strings to Irish harp MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX. A nicely toned example, mottled and iridescent in places, excellent detail to the bust and hair, well defined and evenly struck. Hairline die break running from the A in legend to the V in a circular fashion in CAROLVS. Superb reverse with a perfect rendition of the edge lettering. Bold about extremely fine..
