Second China War, Long Service Pair to Thomas Fitzgibbon 3rd Battalion The Buffs comprising Second China War Medal 1857-60, one clasp Taku Forts 1860, (T. Fitzgibbon 3rd Buffs 2683), ; Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, VR, (T. Fitzgibbon 3rd Buffs 2683) both contemporarily renamed in engraved capitals, toned about fine.
Sold with copy service papers, which show that 2683 Thomas Fitzgibbon of the 1st Battalion, 3rd Regiment of Foot “The Buffs”, was discharged from the Army at his own request on the 15th April 1871 after 21 years and 199 days service, during which time he served in Malta, Greece, The Crimea, Corfu, China and India, he was wounded three times in the Crimea, ~ slightly wounded 23rd August 1855, slightly wounded upper right arm, 8th September 1855, severely wounded in the head 11th December 1855, his papers state that he was awarded the Crimea Medal with the clasp Sebastopol, The Turkish Crimea and the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal with a gratuity of £5.
