Canute (1016-35), Penny, Short cross type (c.1029-35/36), London Mint, moneyer Leofred, diademed bust left with lis tipped sceptre, legend surrounding, CNVT RECX. Rev, voided short cross, within linear circle and legend surrounding, reads +LEOFRED ON LVN, 0.95g (S.1159; N.790; BMC XVI; SCBI 14 [Copenhagen], 2700-03). Some verdigris in the northern region of the obverse, otherwise a comprehensive example with clear legends and a sound portrait. Good very fine, well provenanced.
