Death of Cato, Silver Medal (32mm) by J. Dassier, 1740-1750. Bust of Cato the Younger right / Death of Cato: Cato’s body lies stretched out on a canopied bed, his hand over his entrails; at his side are an open book (the Phaedo of Plato) set on a table, a dagger, and a basin; dated year 708 (46 BC) in exergue (Eisler 52a; Catenacci pp. 106-7). Extremely Fine.
