Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), Penny, PACX type (c.1042-1044), Worcester mint, moneyer Aelfwine, diademed bust left with sceptre, legend commences at top +EDPERD REXA. Rev, pellet in annulet at centre of voided long cross, letters struck in angles, reads +AELPINE ON PIHER, 1.10g (S.1171; N.813; BMC IV; Bust Ai; Pagan, 510).

Good very fine, struck on a large flan with some peckmarks. A rare mint for a scarce type, with an interesting provenance and academic classification.
