Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), Penny, Facing Bust/Small Cross type, struck 1062-1065. Thetford mint, Aelfwine moneyer. Crowned facing bust, cloak decorated with six pellets, legend reads EΛDPΛRD RE. Rev, short cross patt ée within inner linear circle, legend reads + ÆLPINE ON ÐEOT, 1.19g (N.830; BMC. XIII; S.1183).

Good very fine, darkly toned with a well struck portrait on a thick broad flan.
