Edward VII (1901-1910), Matt proof gold Five-Pounds, 1902, bare head right, De S. below truncation for engraver George W De Saulles, legend surrounding, EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA BRITT OMN REX FID DEF IND IMP. Rev, St George slaying the dragon with sword, cloak flowing behind, broken lance to lower left, tiny B.P. in exergue for engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, edge milled (S. 3966; L&S 1; Hill F36; WR 404).

An outstanding example of the type, uncharacteristically well detailed in the Kings portrait with lustrous fields. As struck.
