Description

Egypt Medal 1882-89, dated Reverse, two clasps, The Nile 1884-85, Kirbekan, awarded to Private Benjamin Hughes 1st Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment Mounted Infantry Camel Regiment (195. Pte B. Hughes. 1/ S. Staff. R.), very fine.

NB. Medal Rolls show Service number as 495 not 195 as on medal.

Joined the South Staffordshire Regiment on the 26th of May 1875, he served in South Africa being engaged against the Zulu, he was awarded the South Africa Medal with the Clasp 1878-9 whilst with the 80th Regiment and the Egypt Medal with two clasps. He would also have been awarded the Khedives Star. He was Discharged from the Army, Time Expired, on the 25th of May 1887.
