Description
France, Anglo-Gallic, Richard the Lionheart (Duke of Aquitaine 1172-85, king of England 1189-99), silver Denier, cross, no pellets, RICARDVS REX. Rev. PIC/TAVIE/NSIS, pellet (and crescent?) below, 0.93g (Elias 8g/i; W&F 340V; S. 8008).
Very fine.
Elias described the symbol below the legend on the reverse as a dot (8g) or a crescent (8i), but Withers corrected it to a simple dot. This example, although not conclusive, appears to show both a dot and a crescent.
