Description
George I (1714-27), Crown, 1726, Small Roses and Plumes, laureate and draped bust right, toothed border surrounding both sides, reads GEORGIVS D G M BR FR ET HIB REX FD. Rev, crowned cruciform shields, small roses and plumes in angles, nine strings to Irish harp, surrounding legend BRVN ET LDVX SRIATH ET EL, edge inscription DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI DECIMO TERTIO (S.3639a; ESC. 115; BULL 1546; R2).
Attractive toning on the obverse showing up the underlying original mint bloom, with hints of light magenta in the correct light. Some of the letter die puncheons slightly worn, visible more on the reverse. A couple of surface marks and unobtrusive nicks. Hair and overall portrait struck up very well. About extremely fine, very rare.
