Description
George I (1714-27), Guinea, 1719, fourth laureate head right, toothed outer border surrounding both sides, legend surrounds from bottom left GEORGIVS DG M BR FR ET HIB. REX FD. Rev, crowned cruciform shields, including the the Arms of Hanover, ornamental sceptres in angles, garter star with sunburst at centre, date flanking top crown, reads BRVN ET. L. DVX S.R.I.A.TH ET. EL (S.3631; Schneider 548; EGC.510, R; MCE 251).
A fully centred strike with a pleasing display of both outer toothed borders, subtle gold toning, some flecking. The portrait crisp and well balanced in its level of detail, no perceptible weaknesses with some adjustment marks. Rev, original red mint bloom distributed across the fields and coat of arms, with strong details in the all the essential regions. Encapsulated and graded by NGC as Mint State 63, the finest certified for this year and type by NGC. Recorded as Rare.
