George II (1727-60) , Proof Silver Sixpence, 1728, edge plain, young laureate and draped bust left, legend reads GEORGIVS II DEI GRATIA. Reverse, crowned cruciform shields, garter star at center, date flanking either side of top crown, legend commences M.B.F. ET. H. REX. F. D. B. ET L. D. S.R.I.A.TH ET. E. (S.3705; ESC.1604; Bull 1737 [R4]).

Beautifully toned in a dusky granite grey with underlying mint iridescence and bloom, clear of any surface markings, nicks or handling marks, with a dual provenance of Spink and Baldwin, supporting tickets in place. Superb as struck, one of the premier examples available on the open market.
