George III (1760‑1820), Silver Pattern Shilling, 1798, by John Milton, laureate head right, reverse crowned shield of arms, (ESC.1243; ‘R5’ Bull 2176). Encapsulated by PCGS as PF 65.
The finest graded by any of the third party graders. Only one graded by PCGS (this example).
The highest graded by NGC being PR63 which was sold by a Swiss auction house for just under £6,000including buyer’s premium.
Made in the same year as the famous ‘Dorrien and Magens’ shilling.
