Henry III (1216-72), Penny, Short cross, class VIIb (c.1222-36) London mint, moneyer Ricard, facing crowned bust pellet on chin, holding sceptre at left, reads HENRICVS REX. Rev, short voided cross pommee, small cross pommee in each angle, +RICARD ON LVN, 1.48g (S.1356B; N.979B; Mass.2041). Sharply struck with impressive overall detail. Bold very fine, toned.
