Description

Henry IV or V (1399-1422), Groat, Type A – muled with Henry IV obverse, light coinage type III, mintmark pierced cross with central pellet. Facing bust within tressure of nine arcs, large fleurs on all cusps, with annulet to left of the crown and pellet to the right, within inner linear circle. Legend surrounds HENRIC DEI GRA REX ANGLIE Z FRANC, quatrefoil after Henric with single and double saltire stops. Rev, long cross, outer legend reads POSVI DEVM ADIVTOREM MEVM, saltire stops, inner legend CIVITAS LONDON, Lombardic Ns, double saltire stops after tas and don , all within concentric circles, 3.75g (S.1760, N.1385; Stewartby p.323, PIII/B).

A fully centred strike on a broad flan, legends comprehensive and legible. Near very fine for issue, very rare.
