Henry VIII (1509-47), Groat, third coinage (1544-47) Tower mint, bust 3, mintmark Lis, three-quarter facing crowned bust in ruff, legend surrounds HENRIC 8 DG AGL FRA Z HIB REX. Rev, long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, annulet in each fork end, legend reads, +POSVI DEV A DIVTOR E MEV, 2.52g (S.2369; N.1844). Well struck on a marginally irregular flan, much of the original mint bloom visible and apparent on both sides, the portrait style of bust understated yet engaging, legends generally legible. Rev, cleanly struck without any scratches or indentations, a touch off centre. Good very fine, well provenanced.
